Spools

Every reel, what's left on it, and where it is.

No account, nothing to set up. Everything stays in this browser.

Why would I want an account?

Only to keep your devices in step. There is no password — you give an email address, we post you a 6-digit code, and this device stays signed in for 90 days.

Once you are signed in, every device using the same address shows the same inventory and updates itself. Log a print on your phone at the printer and it is already there on your computer.

Without an account everything still works, but it lives only in the browser you are using right now. To get it onto another device you export a data file and import it there — and from then on the two carry on separately. Nothing keeps them in step, so a reel you update on one will still read the old figure on the other.

You can start without an account and sign in later, taking your reels with you.

Install it on your phone

iPhone or iPad — open this page in Safari, tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen. It has to be Safari; Chrome on iOS cannot install web apps.

Android — open this page in Chrome, tap the ⋮ menu, then Add to Home screen. Chrome will often offer to do it for you.

Once installed it opens full screen like any other app, works with no signal, and updates itself — you never reinstall it.

What does Spools actually do?

It tracks every reel of filament you own: what is left on it, what it cost, and which printer slot or dryer it is in right now.

You describe a reel you can buy once, then adding one you have bought takes two taps. Weigh a reel on kitchen scales and it works out what is left. Load it into a printer slot and the app knows where it is.
