🔒 Welcome to WarrantyVault

WarrantyVault is a free app for tracking your purchases, warranties, receipts, and product documents in one secure place. It is designed for warranted goods - electronics, appliances, tools, and anything else that comes with a guarantee.

Never lose a warranty again. Never miss a claim window because you couldn't find the receipt.

Installing on Your Phone

WarrantyVault works as a Progressive Web App (PWA) which means you can install it on your phone's home screen and it behaves like a native app - no app store needed.

On Android: Open WarrantyVault in Chrome, tap the three-dot menu at the top right, and tap Add to Home screen. Confirm and the WarrantyVault icon will appear on your home screen.

On iPhone: Open WarrantyVault in Safari, tap the Share button at the bottom of the screen, then tap Add to Home Screen. Tap Add to confirm.

Creating an Account

Tap Get started free on the home screen. Enter your name, email address, and choose a password of at least 8 characters. Tick the agreement box and tap Send verification code. Check your email inbox for a 6-digit code and enter it to complete registration. You will be taken straight to your dashboard - no second login needed.

Signing In

WarrantyVault uses two-step verification every time you sign in. Enter your email and password, then check your inbox for a 6-digit code. Enter the code to complete sign-in. Tap Resend code if it doesn't arrive within a minute - also check your spam folder. Codes expire after 15 minutes. Once signed in your session stays active for 30 days so you won't need to sign in again unless you sign out manually.

Adding Items

Tap the + button at the bottom of any screen to add a new item. Only the item name is required - fill in as much or as little of the rest as you like.

1. Scan a barcode (optional)

Tap Start Barcode Scanner at the top of the Add Item screen. Point your camera at the barcode on the product or packaging. WarrantyVault searches electronics and consumer goods databases and fills in the name, brand and model automatically if found. Works best in good lighting on a flat, undamaged barcode. If the product isn't found, tap to use the barcode as the serial number and fill in the rest manually.

2. Item details

Enter the item name, select the brand from the dropdown (or add a new brand if it's not listed), and enter the model number. The serial number field is useful for warranty claims - check the label on the product or the original packaging.

3. Purchase details

Enter the shop name. Tap 📍 Nearby to find shops at your current location using GPS - results are sorted by distance. Tap any result to fill in the shop name automatically. If you are adding an item from a past purchase, type the shop name manually. The purchase date defaults to today - change it if needed. Enter the price and select the currency.

Tap + Add store address manually to expand a section where you can record the shop's full address for future reference.

4. Warranty

Select the warranty period from the dropdown. WarrantyVault calculates the expiry date automatically from the purchase date. In Germany and most EU countries the statutory minimum warranty is 2 years. If you purchased an extended warranty, note the details in the Notes field.

5. Category

Select a category and optionally a subcategory. This helps organise your vault and makes the Reports screen more useful. Tap + Add new category or subcategory to create your own custom categories.

6. Product image

Tap the image zone to take a photo of the product with your camera or choose one from your gallery. This makes items easier to identify in your list.

7. Receipt and attachments

Tap the receipt zone to photograph or upload your proof of purchase. PDF receipts such as Amazon order confirmations are also accepted. Use Add Attachments to store additional documents - extended warranty certificates, instruction manuals, insurance documents, or anything else related to the item. Give each attachment a label so you can find it easily later. Supported formats: JPG, PNG, PDF, Word, Excel, CSV, text files up to 5MB each.

8. Notes

Use the notes field for anything else - registration codes, support phone numbers, Amazon order numbers, or reminders about what the warranty does and doesn't cover.

Tap Add to Vault to save the item.

Viewing and Editing Items

Tap any item in your list to view its full details including the warranty expiry banner, all attached files, and purchase information. Tap Edit Item to make changes. To delete an item, tap Edit and use the Delete button in the top right.

Warranty Status

The dashboard shows your vault at a glance. Items are flagged in three states: Expiring Soon (within 30 days, shown in amber), Expiring Very Soon (within 7 days, urgent amber), and Expired (shown in red). Items with no warranty tracked are shown in grey.

Searching and Filtering

On the Items screen, use the search bar to find items by name, brand, model, serial number, or shop. Use the filter chips to show All Items, Active warranties, Expiring Soon, or Expired. Tap a category chip to filter by category.

Reports

The Reports screen shows your personal spending broken down by shop, category, subcategory, and month. It also shows your top items by value and a warranty status breakdown. All data is yours only - this screen shows no other users' information.

Exporting Your Data

Go to Account and tap Export CSV or Export PDF. Your complete item list is compiled and emailed to your registered address. The CSV opens in Excel or Google Sheets. The PDF is formatted for printing or sharing with insurers.

Account Settings

Go to Account to update your display name, set your country (improves barcode scanning for your region), change your password, or export your data. You can permanently delete your account and all data from this screen - this cannot be undone.
